About WatertightHub

WatertightHub helps homeowners understand what basement waterproofing and foundation repair actually cost in their city, and connects them with established local contractors. We focus on the trades that keep water out of a home: basement waterproofing, foundation repair, crawl space encapsulation, French drains, and sump pumps.
Who runs WatertightHub
WatertightHub is an independent, privately operated resource. We are not owned by a contractor, a franchise, or a lead broker, and that independence is the point: it lets our cost estimates and guidance stay neutral. Our focus is a single thing, giving homeowners a clear, honest picture of waterproofing and foundation costs before they call anyone.
What we do
For each city we cover, we publish a modeled regional cost range plus the local facts we can source directly: the soil under the city from USDA survey data, real climate normals, and, where we have verified it, the permit authority and fee schedule read from the city's own document. We then connect you with established local contractors who serve that area so you can request and compare quotes.
What we are not
We are not a contractor and we do not perform any work. The businesses listed on this site are independent third parties. Cost figures are modeled local estimates to help you plan, not quotes and not guarantees. Your actual price depends on your home, the severity of the problem, and the contractor you choose.
How our data is built
We are deliberate about which numbers are measured and which are modeled, and we do not dress one up as the other.
Cost ranges are modeled. They start from a national band for each service and are scaled by region. They are planning estimates, not quotes, and they do not read your specific soil, permit, or labor costs.
Soil, climate, and permits are sourced.Soil comes from USDA SSURGO survey data sampled around each city. Climate figures come from ERA5 reanalysis (via Open-Meteo). Permit authorities and fee schedules are read from each city's own published document and checked a second time before they go up, with the source linked on the page. Business information reflects publicly available listings. We correct errors when we find them or when a reader points one out.
That sourcing feeds five original datasets we publish and let anyone cite: basement flood claims outside flood zones, water-table depth, freeze-thaw cycles, expansive clay soil, and building-permit fees, each with its method and limits stated. See them all on our research page.
How we make money
WatertightHub is free for homeowners. We may earn a referral fee when we match you with a contractor or lead partner, or a commission when you use a link to a partner service. We may also display advertising. This never adds cost to you and does not change our local estimates.
